CAN YOU GIVE ME SHELTER IN THOSE LOVIN' ARMS
I'M NOT DOING OK ON MY KID'S OWN BIRTHDAY

SO PLEASE GIVE ME SHELTER IN THOSE LOVIN' ARMS

VERSE 1:

Amaj7 Cmaj7 Amaj7
I HAVE A MEMORY OF A SILVER CHRISTMAS TREE
I REMEMBER THE LAUGHTER AND A BEAUTIFUL FIRE
Cm7 Amaj7
BUT IT'S HAZY NOW, MAYBE JUST THE WHISKEY
IT ALL FELL APART , DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY
Amaj7 Cmaj7 Amaj7
FOR THINGS I LOVED, IT WAS THE SLOW GOODBYE

VERSE 2:

Amaj7 Cmaj7 Amaj7
I WAKE WITH A HANGOVER I'M STILL IN MY BED
EVERYWHERE I LOOK IT'S JUST A SEA OF RED
Cm7 Amaj7
TV, THE NEWSPAPER, POSTERS AND HALLMARK CARDS
FOR ALL THOSE ROMANCE LOVIN' DIEHARDS
Amaj7 Cmaj7 Amaj7
I KNEW LOVE ONCE, BUT I LOVED THE BOTTLE MORE

VERSE 3:

Amaj7 Cmaj7 Amaj7
I CAN'T RAISE MY EYES TO MEET HER OWN
OF ALL THE DAYS TO MISS , NOT HER OWN BIRTHDAY
Cm7 Amaj7
MY HEAD HURT , MY HANDS SHAKE TRYING TO HOLD THE PHONE
Amaj7 Cmaj7 Amaj7
NO GIFTS NO CARDS CAN EVER REPLACE THE HURT
FOR THE MESS I CREATED WHEN I LOST MY WAY

Real nice acoustic blend of instruments and vocal. Has a good real-life vibe to it. Great job

- Jeff Ashbaker

Really nice. Great flow and feel. Love the chord progression change in the B parts as a device to enhance the description of, and your feelings surrounding the Christmas memory/the hangover on Valentines Day/the forgotten birthday. Vocals fit the mood of the song. Lyrically you captured my attention from the first line on and made me want to hear where you were taking the story.

- Jane Godfrey

Nice feel to this song. Good voice. Nice words and they work well with the music.

- Kent Webb

Losing everything Important to Alcohol and Drugs. BPM 107
Story Behind the Song:
A Review by Lyricist Birthe Noer Myers

Such a pleasing voice, unstrained, intimate, it is perfect for this very intimate song. The subject of lost love and need for new direction, new love. And problem of memories that are both precious and painful, especially on Holidays is handled beautifully. The guitar plays perfectly to all the emotions. A lovely song
